Resign immediately to avoid impeachment, Pelosi tells Trump 

- US president, Trump, has been given an alternative to avoid impeachment due to his role in the Capitol violence 
- House Speaker Pelosi said the president should resign to avoid being impeached
 - The Democrat lawmaker also said she had reached out to VP Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment 
The Speaker of the United States' House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has told President Donald Trump to resign following the Capitol violence which led four people dead. 
The New York Times reports that Pelosi said on Friday, January 7, the that the House could impeach the president if he fails to resign due to his role in inciting the violence which took place at the Capitol. Legit.ng gathers that Pelosi who belongs to the Democratic Party also called on her colleagues from the Republican Party to join the push to get President Trump out of office.

In another statement sighted by Legit.ng on Saturday, Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer issued a joint statement on their efforts to reach Vice President Mike Pence about invoking the 25th Amendment. 
The two principal lawmakers said they have called the US vice president to urge him to invoke the 25th Amendment but were yet to hear from him. The 25th Amendment is another way a US president can be removed by his cabinet members.
